Congress slams Union Minister for calling Rahul Gandhi ‘No. 1 terrorist’

Congress General Secretary and Alapuzha MP K C Venugopal on Sunday came down heavily on Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu for his “number one terrorist” comment on Rahul Gandhi.
“The minimum qualification to become a minister in the Modi government, especially for spineless Congress turncoats, is to make bottom-tier personal attacks on Shri @RahulGandhi ji. Not only that, this also shows the level of hatred and disdain that these BJP leaders harbour in their hearts and how little they respect the opposition,” Venugopal said in a post on X.
“It is Mr. Bittu speaking, but these are words of the Prime Minister,” the Congress leader added.
A political controversy erupted after Ravneet Singh Bittu attacked Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on Sikhs and claimed he was “not an Indian”. He also said that there should be a reward for catching him as he was “the biggest enemy of the country”.
Ravneet Singh was referring to Rahul Gandhi’s comments during an event in Virgina in the US, where he had said, “The fight (in India) is about whether a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a turban…whether a Sikh will be allowed to wear a kada or go to the gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about, and it’s not just for Sikhs, but for all religions.”
Ravneet Singh further referred to Rahul Gandhi as “the number one terrorist of the country”.
Venugopal said in his post on X that a democracy can only function when there is “basic respect” between political parties and political rivals are treated as “ideological opponents, not personal enemies”.
Ravneet, who was a three-time MP from the Congress, left the party and joined the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
